Biography

Lucy Oikle was born Dec 19, 1813 the daughter of John Eichel and Catherine Robar. She was baptised Jan 29, 1814 at St John's Anglican Church, the goddaughter of Everett and Catherine Elizabeth Rafuse, and Susan Catherine Robar.[1][2]

It seems that Lucy married Charles Demone in 1840 although documentation of this marriage has not been confirmed yet. They appear to have moved to Queens County where they turn up in the census records in 1861.[3] By 1891,[4] they are living with their daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Ephraim Whynacht.

The records of Thomas Brenton Smith show that Lucy passed away on February 9, 1897 [5] according to a death notice in the Liverpool Advance newspaper. She was living at the "Poor Farm" in Middlefield at the time. There is a cemetery at that location (Pleasantfield-Middlefield Cemetery) so presumably they might be buried there in unmarked graves.
