Sheriff T. S. Harper, of Elbert county, came in last evening from Kiowa, having the prisoners Alice and James F. Burns in charge. They had had a preliminary examination and had been remanded to jail WITHOUT BAIL, and were brought here for incarceration. The preliminary examination occurred at Kiowa before Justice August Ehrler. Alice Burns was charged with murder, to which she pleaded guilty. Her brother, James F. Burns, was charged with being an accomplice. to which he pleaded not guilty for shooting Robert R Wright. [3]
