Grew up never knowing who my father was, or anything about him. Used DNA to find the missing half of my ancestry.....turns out I am 53% Scottish Highlander. I have found my biological father and went from an only child to having a number of siblings, Yay!! So I am very into helping friends/family find missing ancestry. Because knowing where you come from matters, it changes you - and for me in spite of the skeletons I unearthed, it has been worth it.

Kia ora Sarah,

The time has come again for the Connect-A-Thon, and we would be thrilled if you could join the Kiwi Crew once more. It's a breeze to participate—all you have to do is craft fresh profiles for individuals who have yet to be linked, and hopefully, they'll connect with the World Tree.

To sign up, head to the post, where you'll receive your Connect-a-Thon badge and be added to the team. When registering, please don't forget to mention the Kiwi Crew.

For additional details, please take a look at the Kiwi Crew Team page.

Happy WikiTreeing!

Hi Sarah,

WikiTree's seventh annual 72-hour sourcing marathon is coming soon!! and The Kiwi Crew is participating. The previous Source-a-Thons have been great fun and very productive. Last year we did almost 57,000. I invite you to join us this year to beat that record! Participation is easy, simply add sources to unsourced profiles.

To register, post an answer on this Post saying "Yes, I'd like to participate with the KiwiCrew". Once registered, you will receive your Source-a-Thon Bib and badge.

For more information, view the Kiwi Crew Team page

Hello, Sarah,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Sarah, I connect to your family too. My story is similar to yours. I used DNA triangulation to find my grandparents and then my missing father. Thanks to having so many cousins 😊 There are two brothers but cousins assure me Gordon is the correct one. I’m adopted so also using Geneaology to find my place in the world.

Hi Sarah, thanks for your post on G2G and welcome to the New Zealand Project.

I've added the project badge to your profile and your name to the members interests page.

Good luck with your research,

Maria

Hi Sarah, I noticed your request to join the NZ Project. Currently the project has no leader and therefore a badge can’t be easily allocated. I have alerted Eowyn and hopefully she will be able to add you. Fiona - NZ Project member.

Hi,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful. Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies. If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free-Space Profiles. Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a Unresponsive Profile Managers for resolving those unfortunate situations. If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page. Shayne ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi,

I have had an interest in genealogy for years since I worked on a project typing out the courthouse old Birth, Death and Marriage records (hatch, match and dispatch) we used to call them) for the Genealogical soc in the city where I grew up. Have periodically worked on my own family tree for years with little to no budget and been fairly successful.
