Archibald Edmonstone was the son of William Edmonstone and Mary Elizabeth Parsons. His birth was registered at Greenwich, London in the third quarter of 1867.[1]
He was a lieutenant in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. From 1907 to 1910 he was a Groom in Waiting to King Edward VII. He was made a Commander of the Order of Vasa (with star).[2]
In 1895 he married Ida Eleanor Agnes Forbes at St Paul's, Wilton Place, Knightsbridge, London.[3] She was the daughter of Sir George Stewart Forbes, 3rd Bt of Newe and a Woman of the Bedchamber of Princess Christian of Schleswig-Holstein, third daughter of Queen Victoria.[2] They had three sons:
His wife Ida died in 1949.[2]
Archibald died on 1 April 1954 and was succeeded by his eldest surviving son.[2] His death was registered in the SW district of Surrey in the second quarter of 1954.[4]
