Biography

William Nathaniel Easton, also known as W. N., was born in 1865 in Texas. According to family researchers, he reported his place of birth differently in various census records.

In the 1870 census, there is a record for "Nachl" [likely Nath'l, abbreviation for Nathaniel] (age 4) living in Galveston Ward 1, Galveston, Texas. He was living in the household of W M Easton and Emily Easton, probably the parents of this child.[1]

William served in the military and was posted at Fort Thomas, Arizona Territory in 1886. He was a Drill Sargent in Company M, 10 Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers .[2]

William married Annie M. Box on 18 April 1887 in Arizona, USA, Pima.[3] According to family researchers, he was married to Annie Box for seven months before he robbed a bank and was sent to prison. Whether or not he went to prison, he appears to have abandoned or divorced his first wife and reappeared in Portland, Oregon by 1890. His first wife, Annie married again to William Neal on 26 June 1890 in Pima, Arizona, United States.[4]

William married Louise "Lulu" Williams in 1890 in Portland, Oregon.[5] William and Lulu had two children:

  1. George Easton (1891-1902)[6]
  2. William Nathaniel Easton (1892-1902)[7]

William was incarcerated in Sep1893 in Portland, Oregon.[8] He was discharged in Dec 1893.[9]

In 1900, his wife Lulu reported herself as a widow.[10] Both of the sons of William and Lulu died in 1902.

William married Emma Green about 1904, most likely in St Louis, Missouri, and, in the 1910 census, William (age 56), Waiter, was the married head of household in St Louis Ward 17, Saint Louis City, Missouri, United States. His household included his wife Emma and son Shellie (age 6).[11]

In the 1920 census, William (age 50), Hostler, was the married head of household in St Louis Ward 17, St Louis (Independent City), Missouri. His household included his wife Emma and son William N Easton (age 8).[12]

In the 1930 census, William (age 70), Fireman, was the married head of household, living with his wife Emma and son William (age 18) at 2635 Pine Street, St Louis, St. Louis (Independent City), Missouri, United States.[13]

He passed away after 1930.
