Biography

Reta Zazel East was born on 9 Aug 1889 in Cass County, Michigan, United States, daughter of Rollie Mark East (1862 - 1937) and Sarah Margaret Wright (1860 - 1933).^[1]

Her brother was Bion Rose East (1885 - 1972). ^[2]

Reta was a Friend (Quaker)

On 3 March 1900, she and her father were given membership in the Birch Lake Quaker MM. ^[3]

In 1900, Reta was living at 606 Sycamore St. in Niles, Berrien, Michigan, United States. ^[2]

In the 1910 census Reta (age 20) was the single daughter of Rollie M East in Niles Ward 2, Berrien, Michigan, United States, listed as a teacher in the "city school."^[4]

Reta married Ralph Edward McLellan (1882 - 1938) on 3 Jul 1910 in Niles, Berrien, Michigan.^[5]

Their children were:

1. Nancy McLellan (1911 - 2006)
2. Phillip McLellan (1920 - 2002).

In the 1950 census Reta (age 60) was the widowed head of household in Plainfield, Union, New Jersey, United States, where she worked as a secretary in a doctor's office.^[11] She lived in Plainfield because her daughter Nancy McLellan (1911 - 2006) lived there with her family.

Reta died in Nov 1974 in Keene, Cheshire, New Hampshire aged ~85. She is buried in Birch Lake Cemetery, Calvin Center, Michigan.
