Biography

Robert John Durrant was born in 1875 in Wyoming, Plympton-Wyoming, Lambton, Ontario, Canada. He is the son of George Durant and Mary Ann Magee.^[1] In the 1881 census Robert (age 6) was in Petrolia, Lambton, Ontario, Canada. He had an older brother Thomas George Durrant.^[2]

His father George passed away in 1888 in Wyoming, Plympton-Wyoming, Lambton, Ontario, Canada. In the 1891 census Robert and his brother Thomas were living with their widowed mother Mary in the same place.^[3] Sadly his older brother Thomas passed away a year later in 1892 (of TB) in Wyoming, Lambton.

Robert was a Tailor.

Robt was in a tax record in 1898 in Wyoming, Plympton-Wyoming, Lambton, Ontario, Canada, working as a tailor.^[4] In 1906 Robert and his mother Mary were living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.^[5]

Robert (age 38, bachelor), married Annie Mabel Anderson (age 34, spinster) on 25 March 1914 in Wyoming, Lambton, Ontario, Canada. Robert was a Merchant Tailor residing in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and his faith was Church of England. Annie was residing in Wyoming, Lambton and was Presbyterian. Witnesses were her brother William Anderson of Wyoming and Blanche Brittain? of Wyoming. The marriage was officiated by Presbyterian John A. Ross ^[6][7] In the 1916 census Robert (age 41) was the married head of household in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. His mother Mary was living with them; she passed away in 1921. Robert was working on his own account as a merchant and tailor.^[8]

In the 1926 census Robert (age 49) was the married head of household in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with a two year old daughter. They also had a domestic and a lodger.^[9]

He passed away (aged 85) about 1961 in Winnipeg, Manitboba, Canada. Robert was mentioned on a memorial in Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg, Greater Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with a death date of 6 January 1961.^[10][11]
