Betty was born in 1918. She was the daughter of Thomas Durbin (1874–1951) and Mary Elizabeth Goulding (1883–1959). She passed away in 1986.
She married Russel James McWhorter about 1934 in Pennsylvania. Their children were Russell McWhorter, Carolyn Louise McWhorter Jeffers (1935–2012) and Betty Lou McWhorter (1941–2018).
Betty passed away on 28 November 1986 in Washington, Pennsylvania followed with burial at the Washington Cemetery in Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
