Joseph Samuel Durbin , 88, of 271 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Julia Manor Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 18, 1912, in Halfway, he was the son of the late Edwin G. and Florence G. McElroy Durbin .
He was employed with the county as a park guard for six years, retiring in 1987. Prior to that he was employed with Purolator Security.
He was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his wife, Leoda Mae Durbin ; a daughter, Florence Irene Durbin of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two sisters, Mary M. Keyser and Mae Babb, both of Hagerstown; three step-daughters, Mary Dillon of Woodbridge, Va., Alice Whittington and Ruth Smith, both of Hagerstown; a step-son, Edward Turner of Louisiana; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a foster son, Sherman B. Durbin .
Minnich Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. [1]
