Biography

Early Life

Mary Constance Dupuis was born on 19 Oct 1858 in Richmond, Surrey, England, United Kingdom. She was the eldest child of Henry Dupuis and Catherine Rosalie Greene. She was christened on 28 Nov 1858 at St. Mary Magdalene in Richmond[1][2][3].

In 1861, Mary (2) lived in Richmond with her parents Rev. Harry (53, the Vicar of Richmond) and Catherine (28) and her brother Godfrey (<1)[4]. In 1871, 4 years after her father's death and 2 years after her step-father Sir Charles Jasper Selwyn's death, Mary (11) still lived in Richmond with her mother Catherine Greene and her siblings Godfrey (13), Herbert (9), Charles (7), and Rachel (3) Dupuis, and step-brother Harry Jasper Selwyn (1)[5].

Married Life

On 11 Sep 1880 in Richmond, Mary married Reginald Richard Frederick Cavendish[6]. Mary and Reginald had the following children:

In 1891, Mary (32) lived in Penge, Surrey, England with her husband Richard (35) and her children Rachel (8), Richard (6), Violet (4), and Beatrix (3), as well as her sister Rachel Dupuis (23)[7].

In 1901, Mary (42) lived in Geldeston, Norfolk, England with her husband Richard (44) and her children Rachel (18), Violet (14), Beatrix (13), and Dorothy (9)[8].

In 1911, Mary (51) lived in Bournemouth, Hampshire, England with her husband Richard (54) and her children Rachel (27), Richard (25), Beatrix (22), and Dorothy (19)[9].

Death

She passed away on 14 Jul 1914 in Surrey, England, buried in Ocklynge Cemetery, Eastbourne, Eastbourne Borough, East Sussex, England, and her estate was probated on 26 Oct 1914[10][11].

Eight years later, her husband Richard would marry Martha Douglas (Reynolds) Leigh on 4 Jul 1922 in Brighton, Sussex, England[12].
