Hinton was born in 1806.

The Duncan family appears to have migrated from Georgia to Texas in 1850, after Hinton Jr's birth in 1849 and before Bryant David's birth in 1851. The 1870 Census shows the brothers ages. Probably used a couple of wagons to walk across the South to Northeast Texas.
