INDEPENDENCE — Bernice “Blanche” J. Nogosek, 83, of Independence, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, at Grand View Care Center, Blair.

Bernice was born August 25, 1921, in Traverse Valley, rural Independence, to John and Julia (Lyga) Dubiel. She married Simon A. Nogosek on October 4, 1938, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Independence. He died on January 19, 1991.

Survivors include a daughter, Eleanore (Eugene) Christianson of Independence; a son, Edward (Carol) Nogosek of Taylors Island, Md.; six grandchildren, Laurie (Terry) Boland, Jean Wozney, Sandra Neve, Patrick (Nancy) Christianson, Mary (Thomas) Myers and Anthony (Heidi) Christianson; nine great-grandchildren, Jessica and Cody Wozney, Dakota Neve, Brennan and Tyler Christianson, Megan and Dylan Myers, Drew and Haley Christianson; a great-great-grandchild, Aubrey Wozney; a brother, Ernest (Irene) Dubiel of Independence; two sisters, Florence Kreibich and Esther (Laverne) Killian, both of Independence; three sisters-in-law, Agnes Dubiel of Independence, Theresa Dubiel of Whitehall and Kuni Dubiel of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Joseph (Cora) Symicek of La Crosse; a great-aunt, Helen Sluga of Independence; nieces and nephews.

Blanche was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Dennis and Eugene; four brothers, Edward, Lawrence, Clarence and John Dubiel; and a sister, Eleanore Thoma.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with the Very Rev. Douglas C. Robertson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, where there will be a prayer service followed by a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
