Hello Ronald

I appreciate your diligence with information about my grandfather Vincent Joseph Broderick. I have merged the information collected. Thank you Colleen Broderick Cyr

Hi Colleen,

Thanks for the message. I am quite interested in finding my relatives who descend from John Vey, the brother of my second great grandfather James Vey. This makes you my fourth cousin! I will have to visit Grates Cove again soon.

Hi Ronald

my husband and I are heading down to newfoundland August 2024 it will probably be my last visit. Do you have a tree I could view? I have an extensive one on ancestry. If you don't have an account there send me your email address and I will give you access to it. There is no cost to you.

Hi Ronald! thanks for trying to improve profiles. Be careful when you add sources to a profile that they aren't already there, please.

You added a duplicate death citation to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Stanley-5553

Cheers; Brad

Hi Ronald, thanks for trying to improve profiles. Be careful when you add sources to a profile that they aren't already there, though.

For instance on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Pear-17 you duplicated birth and 1921 references.

Hi Ronald, you're doing great. I made a couple edits to one of your new profiles, maybe you'll find helpful. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ivamy-25

I added a full citation (including the name of the website, and the specific page within the website, not just the URL. It's important to do this because eventually all URLs will break, and we will want to trace work back so we can update links.

I also added a place category. Categories are a way of grouping profiles together. For instance, all the people who were born and lived in Glovertown. It can make research easier for everyone if you add categories.

Hi Ronald! Thanks for doing so much work on those Newfoundland profiles.

You'll notice I made some edits. I did a couple things. First, I added some sources (this is required on wikitree https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources_FAQ ). I mostly used FamilySearch, since these usually link to primary documents, but Newfoundland's Grand Banks is fine too: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Diamond-1673

I used one particular style of writing biographies and citing sources. But there are many totally fine styles.

Another thing I did (this is optional, but good practice) was to add place categories, eg: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Glovertown%2C_Newfoundland_Colony

Categories are a way of grouping profiles together. For instance, all the people who were born and lived in Glovertown. It can make research easier.

If you're interested in learning more about sources, and Canadian genealogy more generally, I recommend signing up for the Canada Project. We have a lot of helpful people, and a crash course in Canadian genealogy: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1177802/have-canadian-ancestors-interest-canada-come-canada-project

Cheers, Brad

Hi Brad,

Sarah was a teacher in Salvage when she met Gideon who was living in Happy Adventure (a nearby town). He was from Gooseberry Island. I remember visiting them in Glovertown with my mother. She died when she was 105, i believe. Her sister Mary Ralph lived to 100+. I wish I still had their obituaries. They both died in Carmelite House in Grand Falls.
