1840

  • 12 June 1841: Deed of Conveyance with William W. Draughon; Isaac owes Barbara G. Matthews $26 and 18 3/4 cents. If he cannot pay his debt by 15th of September, instructs that William W. Draughon sells his property that includes a cow and calf, a two year old heifer, a feather bed, bed stead, dining table, and other items to the highest bidder to pay the debt. Property is conveyed to William for $1. Witnesses: A. P. Adkins and G. H. Alexander[9]
  • 1 April 1845: Newspaper Clipping; "Estrays—Humphreys County. Taken up by ISAAC W. DRAKE, living about three miles west of Waverly, a cream-colored filley, badly marked with a thistalo, shod all round, about five years old—valued at fifteen dollars, this 24th of March 1845 W. White, Ranger By C.E. Harris, D.R."[10]

1850

  • 17 March 1856: Indenture with the Cleveland and St. Louis Railroad Company in Indiana; Sells 5000 acres to the Cleveland and St. Louis RRC for $37K; Land is same land granted to Isaac in 1856 (Middle TN Occupant Grant # 23913)[17]
  • 1 August 1856: Isaac sells a donkey to John W. Crockett for $300[18]

  • 6 March 1860: Deed transfer from D. H. White; Isaac purchases 41 acres from Lot # 28 in the town of Waverly from White for $475; Land is situated on the waters of Trace Creek; Witnesses: J. M. White and James W. Harris[20]
  • 13 July 1861: Slave purchase; Isaac purchases Wyatt, a boy aged about seven, from public auction for $210[21]
  • 2 February 1863: Deed transfer to William Burch; Isaac sells two tracts of land to Burch for $600; Tracts are part of Lot # 28 in the town of Waverly; the second tract is in the eastern part of the Lot; Witnesses: B.F. Larkins and M C. Cearnall[22]

  • 27 February 1871: Deed transfer to John Edwards and son Merchant; Isaac and wife Hannah sell Lot #24 in the town of Waverly for $1200; Witnesses: George L. Harris and F. M. White[36]
  • 28 February 1871: Deed transfer from Trustees of Waverly High School; Isaac purchases Lot #54 in the town of Waverly for $42; Signed I. W. Drake and D. C. Rudolph; Witnesses: George L. Harris and A. S. Edwards[37]
  • 9 March 1871: Deed of conveyance from H. M. McAdoo and William M. Slayden; McAdoo transfers all land in Waverly that he owns to Isaac; The “conveyance is made to said Drake in trust for the purposes herein after stated and for no other and the title hereby conveyed is to vest in the corporation of the town of Waverly as soon as and when said corporation shall be revived and reorganized and the land herein conveyed shall forever be held and dedicated as and for a public Street of said town of Waverly, and is intended to make said Street leading from said Main Street towards the creek of uniform width (to wit) about 80 feet wide from Main Street to the creek. And further thereis to be a channel cut in the center of said Street to convey the water to the creek that comes down the hollow or branch by John Wyly's residence.” Witnesses: B. F.   • 3 April 1872: Witness on Silas A. Ballinger's claim to Southern Claims Commission; The Southern Claims Commission operated from 1871 to 1873, hearing cases of individuals claiming their property had been taken by United States federal military personnel during the Civil War. Isaac and William S. Ferguson were witnesses on Silas A Ballinger's claim for Silas' saw mill that was used during the war.[39]
  • 25 June 1873: Deed transfer to M. M. Box; Isaac and wife Hannah sell 300 acres situated on Little Richland Creek; Witness: William C. Hall[40]
  • 23 January 1874: Deed transferred to J. H. Anderson; Isaac and wife Hannah sell Lots # 37, 38, and 42 in the town of Waverly to Anderson for $950; Witness: G. W. McGee[41]

By 1883, Isaac was living in Nashville TN. His occupation was as a tailor until 1898. These were his residences:[42]

Funeral

On 28 August 1899, Isaac's funeral was held at his home on 625 Bostick Street in Nashville, Tennessee. Services were conducted by Elder Micah Combs and Hill. Pall-bearers: J. R. Hill, J. N. Hill, H.W. Wrye, Wm. Parson, J. Y. Lowe, and May Hendrick.[43]

Burial

Isaac was buried at the Nashville City Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee. His father Jesse is also buried there.[44][45]

  • Isaac is mentioned in the obituary of his mother Rhoda "Rodie" Eddington.[46]
  • I have not determined that Rhoda Neely and Permelia are the same person.
