Biography

Charles N. Dragna is born Vincenzo Dragna, son of Nicolo’ Dragna and Giuseppa Cutropia, on 22 October 1890 in Corleone. He is baptized on 26 October 1890. His godparents are Giovanni Marino and Lucia Cutropia, a married couple.[1]

He migrates through New Orleans with his parents and siblings in 1891 on the Capitain.[2][3]

In the 1930 federal census of Jefferson, Beaumont, Texas, taken 14 April, Charles Dragna, 35, born in Italy, owns his home, worth $400,000, at 1335 Williams? St. He lives with his wife Katy, 25, daughter Josephina, 1 yr 2 mos, sister Mary, 25, all born in Texas, and his mother, Josephine, 70 (b. 1860), a widow, born in Italy. Charles is a groceryman with his own store. His immigration year is unknown. His mother is naturalized, she came in 1885. His wife and sister are saleswomen in the grocery.[4]

Charles dies 13 December 1947 in Beaumont, TX at age 54. He is buried in Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont. The informant at his death is Mrs. Katie Dragna.[5]
