Category: St Agatha Parish, Epe-Gronau, Borken, North-Rhine Westphalia He was the son of Joannes Gerhard Wilhelmus Schulze and Joanna Euphemia Rohling. 'Per St Agatha Catholic Church records, he later changed his birth surname of Schulze to the surname Dowe, before coming to America. He married Maria Anna Brefeld, on 21 November 1867 in Lake County, Illinois. Bernard and Maria were the parents of eight known children
