William Pickett and Phoebe Douglas were married after banns in Cogges, Oxfordshire on 31st January 1860[4]. They were bachelor and spinster and both of full age. William was an agricultural labourer, living in Griffin Court, Newland, Coggs and the son of William Pickett who was a labourer. Phoebe was a domestic servant living in Jericho Gardens, St Thomas's, Oxford and the daughter of Joseph Douglas who was a labourer. Neither could write so they both made their mark on the register with a cross and the witnesses to the marriage were William Hozier and Hannah (?) Pickett[5],

Death
Phoebe died in 1865 at the age of 28[8]. She was buried at St Mary's, Witney, Oxfordshire on 3rd June[9].
