Biography

This profile is part of the Dresden, Ohio One Place Study.

Iona was the daughter of Newton Doughty and Anna Josephine King.

Iona married Omer King in 1897.[1] They were living in Madison Township, Muskingum County in 1900[2] and 1910.[3] Omer died in 1919.

Iona and her 1-year-old son Dalton were living in Dresden in 1920.[4]

Iona died in 1946.[5]


Mrs. Iona King Rites Held Monday

"Funeral services for Mrs. Iona Elizabeth King, 69, of Dresden, were held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at the Schaumleffel-Ransom funeral home, with Rev. Leonard Williams, pastor of the Dresden Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in Dresden cemetery.

Mrs. King died Saturday morning at the Benson rest home, Zanesville, following a lingering illness She had been a resident of the home since May 18.

A native of Madison township she had lived in Dresden and vicinity all her life and was a member of the Dresden Methodist church, the Rebekah lodge and the Dresden grange.

Her husband, Omer, and two children preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Dalton of Columbus; a half-brother, Carlos Nabb, of Adamsville, and three half-sisters, Mrs. Fannie Miller of Dresden, Mrs. Anna Willard of Nashport and Mrs. Mildred Simpson of Columbus." [6]
