Biography

Stephen Dorris was born on October 11, 1792[1] in North Carolina to Joseph Dorris and Katherine McDaniel.

On Oct. 7, 1817, Stephen married Sara Ramsey in Livingston County, Kentucky.[2]

They had four children,

  1. Dr. Alexander Pope,
  2. Catharine,
  3. Elizabeth and
  4. Josephine Dorris.

1812, Surgeon's mate in Kentucky malitia, War of 1812

1818, moved to Cole & Callaway counties

1821, Justice of County Court in Callaway Co., Missouri

1829, Judge of Cole Co., Missouri

1834, Ran for State Senate but lost

Stephen died on January 25, 1840. He is buried in the Woodland-Old City Cemetery in Jefferson City.[1]
