• Draft Registration (1917-1918) Allegheny, Pennsylvania^[3] He was a carpenter with U.S. Engineers serving on a craneboat in the Monongahela River. Described as 5'9", medium build, gray eyes and brown hair.^[3]

Russell never sat still long enough to marry. His family often lost track of him in his wanderings.

Russell died 30 August 1945 and was buried in Claysburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania.^[5]
