TAMANIAN CONVICT RECORD: Dixon, Thomas; alias DISNEY, alias GILDART; Departure date: 22 Dec 1836, from London; Ship: Sarah; Place of origin: Edinburgh, Midlothian; Voyage number: 139; Index number: 18936; Record ID: NAME_INDEXES:1387488. Appropriation List: CON27/1/7. Conduct Record: CON31/1/11. [NOTE very difficult to read - Tried at Chester 26 Oct 1836. Widower. Transported for obtaining money by false pretences under alias of DISNEY; thief from childhood; Initially assigned to Marine Department as a mariner. 10 days on bread & water in 1838 for Assaulting Mrs. DICKSON; various bouts of hard labour from then on for disorderly conduct, absent all night, etc. It looks like Grace may have been escaping him when she went to South Australia in 1847 with her sister and brother-in-law?? They married on 1 Feb 1843, but by 23 March 1843, for an offence I cannot transcribe, but might be Misconduct in gambling on the Race Course, he had his Ticket of Leave revoked and commenced hard labour again. He did not get a Conditional Pardon until 1848}[1] Description List: CON18/1/20 Page 33. Remarks: CSO5/1/19 Page 398.
