Biography

Lillie Dinsmore was born on July 29, 1889 in Morgan County, Alabama. Her parents were Andrew Dinsmore and Mary Rodgers. She was the youngest of seven children.

She married Elijah Franklin Corley on 3 November 1918, in Morgan, Alabama. They had two daughters. Elijah died in 1923, there is no record that Lillie ever remarried. In both the 1940 and 1950 Census, she is living in the household of her daughter, Sarah, and Sarah's husband, Reese Grant Robertson.

She died on September 06, 1978 in Decatur, Morgan, Alabama, United States.

Research Notes

• In the marriage records, the name of Lillie's husband has been misinterpreted as Carley. In looking at the image of the record, it's understandable. However, multiple newspaper articles and subsequent Census records indicate the correct last name is Corley.
• The 1950 Census misinterprets Lillie's last name as Porley. The 1950 Census index also misinterprets the names of Sarah's husband (head of household) as Rose Robertson.
