He married Elsie Isabel Constance Apperley (1880-1964) in 1913 in (Reg.) Nowra, New South Wales, Australia ^[2] and they were the parents of Alan Keith Dillon

Walter died on 11 February 1964 at Ballina, New South Wales, Australia ^[3] and was buried in the Alstonville Cemetery, Alstonville, New South Wales, Australia ^[4].
