George was born about 1847 in Preston, Waterloo, Canada West. He was the son of Heinrich Diehl.
George Dill married Rachel Melissa Cassleman on 14 October 1873 in the home of her parents, William and Mary Cassleman, at Brunel, Muskoka, Ontario.[1] They had two children, Minnie Isabella (Dill) Quaife, and Ralph Dill.
George operated a store at Frog Lake, Northwest Territories (now Alberta).
He was killed 2 April 1885 in what is known as the Frog Lake Massacre.[2] At the time of George's death, his wife and children were living at Amaqua, Boone, Iowa.[3]
