Biography

Maria was born in 1774. [1]
A page from the Thomas family Bible (pictured at right) says Catherine was born August 13, 1775.

She married Ephriam Thomas, Feb 1, 1791, Franklin county, Virginia.

In 1799 they were on the tax list of Franklin County, Virginia

From Franklin Co, VA Ephriam and Caty followed Caty's father and went to Smith Co, TN--most likely they were there by 1800-1810. In 1801 the land where they lived became Jackson County, TN. The family had a mill there on Wartrace Creek and Adam Teal/Diehl was buried there near it.

1815-1817 they lived in Chester, Illinois.

The Thomas family were in the Thomasville, Missouri, area by 1818 (or 1821), being among the first settlers there.

They had 13 children.

1830 Wayne Co, Mo census (p 46):
Thomas, Ephriam 50-60
. . . . woman 50-60 (Caty-55)
. . . . boy 15-20 (Andrew Jack-16)
. . . . 2 girls 10-15 (Mary-15, ? )
(on the same page as John Thomas & William Thomas, his sons; most of their children were married by then.)

1840 Ripley Co, Mo census:
Ephriam Thomas 000000001 - 00000001
male 60-70 [Ephriam-66]
female 60-70 [Caty-66]

She passed away Sept 25, 1859 in Thomasville, Oregon County, Missouri.[2]
