Hi Winston, I notice that you recently completed a merge of Barron-3544 and Barons-13. Both profiles were presumably unsourced as the final profile is unsourced. The proposer of the merge suggested that Barons should be the LNAB, but you merged it the other way based on Barron being the more common surname. It is important to add a relevant source before completing a merge of profiles with different LNABs. How common a surname is, isnt a reason to merge in a particular direction. Please make sure you source carefully in future before merging profiles with different LNABs. Many thanks
Thanks for working on deep ancestors profiles. I noticed that profiles such as King-32902 appear to be only sourced with FamilySearch trees. I checked and could not find sources on the FamilySearch profiles.
The point is that FamilySearch, like Ancestry or My Heritage, is quite good at building trees. However, it is the sources, or original document references, that are important to good profiles, especially pre-1700. Otherwise, there is no proof for the facts that are presented. Please review Pre-1700 Profiles.
Dye-59 was being merged with another new William Dye about every 6 months. Dye-2134 shouldn't be merged with Dye-59 because of it's unreliable sources as Ancestry, and as WikiTree doesn't recognize Ancestry as a Reliable source and just a reference. Robin Lee put Dye-59 as a protected site. Another Pvt Dye should not have been created if WT's software was working. Pike-2301
HI, I see you are working on merges, you may want to review Merging FAQs to understand your responsibilities in doing merges. Remember, after the merge you will want to clean up the text. During a merge, the text from the merged-away profile is simply appended onto the end of the text of the merged-into profile. You will want to integrate it into a single biography and a single sources section. Thanks so much for helping improve Wikitree! If you have any questions, just let me know.
Hi Winston, also thanks for your work on the Thorowgoods. I note you are mainly just copying from another website also made by volunteers like us? (Familysearch) It would be ideal if you could check against parish registers and other records as you work backwards in time, rather than just trusting the other website. Unfortunately they often contain mistakes, or rely on very optimistic assumptions.
Hi Winston, I just removed a middle name which looked like a mistake on Denton-1053. I am noting it here just in case there really is evidence of the middle name. (Which would be unusual and interesting, and not evidence I think I've seen so far.) Thanks for your work.
Two apologies. One for my typing error for your name in the previous message and the other for the reference to Oliver Cromwell. Family lore says this is true and I thought there were sufficient facts to back it up but after going through to assure correctness, I discovered some of the documentation was flawed and I disconnected the line. We are still cousins though!
Hi Winstone, I see we are both descended from WIlliam Blythe Dibb and his wife Sara Mountaine. This makes us 7th cousins twice removed. It also means that your 12th great grandfather was Oliver Cromwell.

Ann's maiden name was McKeown, as per the sources on her profile
Could you please amend her Last Name at Birth or add me to her Trusted List so I can make the change myself.
Thanks Steve

Thanks!
Thanks for the Jury/Hedgeman merge, I had totally forgotten about proposing that one
