In 1920, Ardie resided on East Santa Barbara Avenue in Los Angeles, California, where he began his journey into adulthood. As the years passed, he continued to reside on Santa Barbara Avenue, finding his calling as a skilled tailor at a local shop. His craftsmanship and attention to detail brought joy to those he served, earning him a reputation for excellence.

Love found its way into Ardie's life when he married Birdie Maude Dorsey on December 22, 1936, in Yuma County, Arizona. Together, they embraced a lifetime of partnership and cherished memories.

In 1940, Ardie continued to live on Santa Barbara Avenue, working as a dedicated porter. However, when World War II called upon him, he enlisted in the United States Navy on June 11, 1943. After his honorable discharge on October 1, 1945, Ardie returned to civilian life, continuing to reside on South Wadsworth Avenue in Los Angeles.
