Platina[2] who calls him Martin III, however this is mistaken as a number of records have misread Marinus as Martinus, states:
he laid aside thoughts of war, and employed his mind in religious matters, repairing churches that were ready to fall with age, and relieving the poor with his charity.
[He] died in the third year, sixth month, and tenth day of his Popedom, and was buried in St Peter's Church.
He became pope on 30 October 942 aged about 42.[1][3] His papacy lasted about 3.5 years ending with his death on 1 May 946. He was buried in the portico of St Peter's Basilica after dying of natural causes.[1]
