Biography

Innocenzo di Miceli, the son of Francesco di Miceli and Giovanna Saccaro, is born on 23 December 1758 and is baptized the next day. His godparents are Vincenzo Sparacio and his wife, Anna [Mondello].[1]

Innocenzo marries Castrenza Cannino[2] (or "Candilora"), who was born in Monreale, on 26 November 1786. Innocenzo's parents are both still living.[3]

Innocenzo and Castrenza have at least twelve children: two daughters named Rosa (c. 1785 and c. 1806), Bernardo (1787), Giuseppe (1794), Carmelo (1796), Antonino (1799), Carmela (1801), Sigismonda (1803), Agata (1804), Giovanni Battista (1809), Vincenza (1811), and Maria Carmela (1813).

I have estimated the first daughter named Rosa is 20 years old (b. 1785) when she marries.

Bernardo is born and baptized 23 October 1787. His godparents are his paternal uncle and neighbor, Simone di Miceli and Liboria Collura, who are unmarried.[4]

Giuseppe Maria is born and baptized 10 August 1794. His godparents are Simone and Maria di Caccamo, a married couple.

Carmelo is born 25 August 1796 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Fabio and Calogera Mancuso, brother and sister.

Antonino is born and baptized 23 January 1799. His godparents are Giuseppe and Biagia Ligotino, a married couple.

Carmela is born and baptized 22 February 1801. Her godparents are Vincenzo and Salvatrice Streva, a married couple.

Sigismonda is born and baptized 25 June 1803. Her godparents are Maestro Francesco and Sigismonda di Bella, a married couple.

Agata is born and baptized 11 November 1804. Her godarents are Don Paolo and Donna Rosa Piazza, a married couple.

Rosa marries Bernardo lo Bue on 24 February 1805. Because she has a sister with the same name, born in 1806, I believe the older girl has died by this time.

The second daughter named Rosa is born around 1806, based on her age in 1807.

In the 1807 stato delle anime, Innocenzo's family lives in the third vanella, or alley, from the Canzoneri church, traveling away from Santa la Croce di Elena. The household is headed by Giovanna di Miceli, 67 (b. 1740), Innocenzo's mother. Innocenzo is 49 (b. 1758), his wife, Castrenza, is 41 (b. 1766). The children in their household are Bernardo, 19 (b. 1788), Giuseppe, 13 (b. 1794), Carmelo, 11 (b. 1796), Antonino, 8 (b. 1799), Carmela, 6 (b. 1801), Sigismonda, 4 (b. 1803), Agata, 3 (b. 1804), and Rosa, 1 (b. 1806).

Their neighbors in the vanella include the families of Innocenzo's brothers Simone and Francesco, and of Gaetano Oliveri.

Giovanni Battista is born 19 March 1809 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Maestro Giuseppe Grimaldi and Cira, his wife.

Carmela dies at age eight on 29 October 1809.

Carmelo dies at age 14 on 3 December 1810.

Vincenza is born and baptized on 16 January 1811. Her godparents are Michaelangelo di Puma and Caterina Cusmano, widow of Francesco.

Bernardo marries Emmanuela Collura, daughter of Antonino Collura and Rosa Gammanta, on 10 January 1813.

Maria Carmela is born 16 April 1813 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Gregorio and Antonina Campisciano, a married couple.

On 6 June 1819, Giuseppe marries Oliva Ligotino and Agata marries Vincenzo Ligotino, Oliva's brother.

The younger daughter named Rosa marries Bernardo Vintaloro on 3 November 1822.[5]

Antonino marries twice, first to Francesca Grizzaffi on 3 October 1824.

Vincenza marries her parents' godson, Bernardo Ligotino (b. 1799), brother of Oliva and Vincenzo, on 29 October 1826.

Carmela marries Salvatore di Miceli, of unknown relation, on 22 November 1829. Her parents are both living.

Death of Castrenza

Castrenza dies, reportedly at age 58 (b. 1773---she is about 65, based on her age in 1807) on 20 July 1831. Innocenzo survives her.

Giovanni Battista marries for the first time, to Vincenza Bianchino, on 24 November 1833.[6]

Carmela dies, reportedly at age 20 (she is 21) on 19 August 1834. Her husband survives her.

Death of Innocenzo

Innocenzo dies suddenly, reportedly at age 65 (he is around 77, based on his age in 1807) on 19 December 1835.

Giovanni remarries, to Bernarda Castelli, on 24 September 1837.[7]

Antonino remarries on 26 November 1837, to Maria Gammanta.

Giuseppe dies, reportedly at age 50 (he is 52) on 24 March 1847, survived by his wife, Oliva.

Antonino dies, reportedly at age 63 (he is 58) on 22 February 1857. He is survived by his second wife, Maria.

Vincenza dies at age 71 (b. 1811) on 10 May 1882, the widow of Bernardo.

Agata dies at age 89 (b. 1804) on 22 December 1893, the widow of Vincenzo .
