Biography

Henri Després was born on 12 Jan 1906 in Cocagne, New Brunswick.^[1] He was the son of Alice Després and an unknown father. (See research notes below)

In the 1911 census Henri, age 5, was listed as the grandson of Hypolite Despres in Dundas Parish, Kent, New Brunswick.^[2]

Henri, age 24, married Alma Cormier, age 22, daughter of Antoine Cormier and Marie Blanche Breau, on 6 Nov 1928 in Cocagne.^[3]

He died on 20 Oct 1967 at his summer home in Shediac Bridge.^[1] The informant on his death record was his wife Jeanne.

Research Notes

In his marriage record, Henri's parents were listed as Hippolyte Despres and Madeleine Melanson. However, this would made Madeleine about 53 years old at the time of his birth. In the 1911 census, Henri was listed as their grandson. In his death record, his wife reported his parents were Hypolite Despres and Alice Despres.
