I am Sam, Sam I am... born on a Saturday at 11:51am / 12:51 DST. I was told that I arrived quite quickly, less that two hours after labor began, and somewhat painless to my mom. Very considerate of me. I am A- blood type, same as my mother. My fathers blood type was A+. I have never married, but I have a niece and two nephews. The direct Desjardins line for my grandfather Daniel Desjardins ended with his sons. In my parents case it was due to the Rh factor.
My parents were from French Canadian founder families, most all arrived in Canada before 1700. Seven out of eight of my great-great-grandparents (and/or their children) migrated from Canada to the USA between 1825 to 1890. In Vermont my moms family connected to my one g-g-grandparent from New England origins. You could say that my direct line family has been occupying a 500 mile radius for at least 300 years.
My parent's lines represent a tight adherence to the concept of cousin marriage, or community exclusivity. In the New England line you can find the names Braley and Reynolds wrapped around each other for generations. As for the "French Connections": my parents are 5th cousins and in fact there are 70 common ancestors found between them so far. Both of my parents share the Gateway ancestor Ann Couvent.
I have been interested in genealogy as early as I could ask questions. My mother probably went mad with my chattering. Now that I'm older I have aquired the DNA bug. I enjoy downloading into new sites to see who shows up in my Historical Skeleton Closet. It turns out, despite the experts advising caution in putting to much faith in some ancient connections, they seem to match my family tree quite well. Lately I have been showing matches to the Arpads/Gepids/Avars...who knew... I'm related to Attila the Hun. Wikitree knew, that's who. I may have put in the relatives I found to the 1600s, but others put in the connections prior to that.
Thank You to every one of you devoted Wikitree members!

got your message, would have been simpler to reply to me on the page where the conversation started. I forget which profile it was on, just remember it was one of the Couillard men. But in a general way, Ancestry isn't always accurate, least of all when all you are using is one of their generic collections.
Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
The Quebecois and Canada Projects may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

My people are among the Founder Families of New France, and the Pilgrims at Plymouth, along the way they met some Irish, Dutch, German...and Native Americans. Searching is always fun.
