Note: 'John Disbrowe, yeoman, of Eltisley, county Cambridge, was probably born about 1526, and died testate in September 1574. He married Alice ----, say about 1549. His parents are unknown. 'Regarding Eltisley, Waters tells that the rectory [parsonage] with the advowson [the patronage of a church living] at Eltisley, in the hundred of Stow and deanery of Bourne (about 12 miles nearly west of Cambridge) was purchased about 1600 by the Disbrowe family. Apparently it was this John Disborowe who made the acquisition, judging by his will, but earlier than 1600.^[2]

Note: 'John Disborowe, the elder, of Eltisley, yeoman, in his will dated 14 September 1574, and probated on 24 September 1574, bequeathed 1) to son John Disborow, the freehold lands at Eltisley, but if he died before his heirs are 21 years old, then other son Brunow Disborow is to be trustee of the land; John is to pay annually 40 shillings to John's mother Alice Disborow; 2) to son Bruno, the copyhold land in the Manor of Eltisley and to pay a like sum to his mother; 3) to wife Alice, household goods in the Manor house of Eltisley, cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry, and grain; 4) to daughter Johane, L40; 5) to James Disbrowe (relationship not given), Sean? in the manor of Borough on payment of L20; 6) to son Bruno, Sean? of parsonage of Eltisley; 7) to every grandchild, 40 shillings; 8) son John, Sean of Manor of Eltisley; 9) to sons John and Bruno, the residual; and 10) executors to be John and Bruno. 'Supervision: Matthie Saddocke and Nicholas Aspinall.'^[3]
