Many thanks for the welcome. I uploaded a Gedcom and have been checking possible matches. Am I correct in thinking that I should upload a new Gedcom from time to time as I add more names to my tree in order to look for new matches.

Each time you create a new profile the system should come up with any possible matches for you to review. Adding another Gedcom will be a lot of work unless you can figure out how to split the Gedcom or create one by surname only. Something I have never done personally so review this page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Splitting_a_GEDCOM  

I prefer to bring them across one at a time as this enables me to tidy them up on import, I use wikitreeX to do mine https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:WikiTree_X

I have not entered any information so far because I am finding the Wiki system a little confusing. Any advice will be appreciated. Today, I discovered that there is a member, Bruce Denny.
