Ernest Delpit was born in Dec. 1847 at Louisiana, USA. He appeared on the census of 13 June 1860 in the household of his parents, Lucas Delpit and Catherine (Douchet) Delpit, at Ward 3, New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana.[1] His father died in 1869. He was a sailor when he appeared on the census of 7 June 1870 in the household of his mother at Ward 3, New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana.[2]
He married Cecile Baham,[3] daughter of Pedro Baham and Mary Virginia Beer, circa 1873.
He was a captain of a schooner when he and Cecile appeared on the census of 4 June 1880 at Madisonville, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.[4] Cecile died in 1896 and he was a widower living in the William Cloth home when he appeared on the census of 13 June 1900 at New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana.[5] He appeared on the census of 19 April 1910 in the household of his son, Luke (Lou) Delpit, and daughter-in-law, Anna (Scorza) Delpit, at Pine St., Madisonville, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.[6] He appeared on the census of 3 Jan. 1920 in the household of his son, Louis Delpit, and daughter-in-law, Olivia (Gregoire) Delpit, at Pine St., Madisonville, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.[7] Ernest probably died about 1925 in Madisonville.
