Biography

Jessie Delbridge is a part of US Black heritage.

Jessie was born in 1917. He was the son of Travis Delbridge and Virgie Mason. In the 1920 census Jesse (age 5) was the son of Travis Delbridge in Zion, Greensville, Virginia.^[1] In the 1930 census Jesse (age 15) was the single son of Travis Delbridge in Zion, Greensville, Virginia, United States.^[2]

Jesse (age 22) married Pauline Rodgers on 4 April 1936 in Greensville County, Virginia, United States.^[3] In the 1940 census Jesse (age 23), laborer, was the married son of Travis Delbridge in Zion, Greensville County, Virginia.^[4] Jessie registered for the draft on 16 October 1940 in Emporia, Greensville County, Virginia. He and Pauline lived in Emporia, and he worked for D. L. Batts in Emporia.^[5]

Jessie died (age 59) on 6 June 1974 in Lawrenceville, Brunswick, Virginia, United States. He was logging in the woods and was crushed by a large tree limb.^[6][7][8] He was buried in Cottage Cemetery in Greensville County, Virginia.^[6]
