Biography

I was born and raised in Fresno, California. All my grandparents ended up there at the end, and my parents met after college in a Catholic social club, though the real referral was my mom worked with a Deaver at the Telephone Company, and she was married to a Shahan that was in the Marine Reserves with my Delaney dad. My parents married at the Shrine of Saint Therese Catholic Church in Fresno. I was born year later at old Saint Agnes Hospital, and baptized at Our Lady of Victory Church. I attended Kiddie Kastle preschool, then K-8 at Our Lady of Victory School, then Fresno High School, Fresno City College, and Fresno State. While at Fresno High School I earned a trip via my Fresno Bee route with Parade Magazine to England and Scotland, and learned a lot. That led to me participating in FCC's first overseas semester abroad program with professors Jim Ruston and Pam Thomas, called Humanities in England located in Kingston-Upon-Thames. At FHS, FCC and Fresno State I sang in the choir. I have a degree in Computer Science specializing in database technology, and after working at Zee Medical in Fresno during my college years, I got my first full-time job in Irvine, California and have been in Southern California ever since. I have four younger sisters (all married with children) and one younger brother not married. After years of being involved in parish ministry and SCRC, I am discerning going to seminary to become a priest or deacon as a second career, something I probably should have done long ago.

Hello, Brian!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

P.S.S. Brian - my son was born in 1968 and attended Clovis High. But he delivered the Fresno Bee. I worked at and attended Fresno State and helped organize the California Bowl. Your biography brought a lot of memories back. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing, and the tips! My family friend Shelle Shahan attended Clovis high as well as my ex-brother-in-law John Johnson, both about your son's age, maybe a year younger? Life was much simpler when kids like me could deliver the newspaper. I miss those times. Cool on the California Bowl. The CPA for the company I worked at during college was Dennis Frye, the California Bowl treasurer. I was fortunate to attend one time.

Hi Brian, i gave you access to Orion and all of his ancestors. If you need anything more feel free to ask. The tree is more up to date in Family Search.. My husband is a great grandson of Orion, his grandfather was Leonard granville Edwards 1905 - 1980 and his mother is Velda. She is still with us but is 91.

Hi Karla,

Please give my regards to your husband. I guess we are both great-grandsons of Orion. Blessings to great uncle Leondard's wife Velda. As I wrote I never got to meet the Edwards other than uncle Larry, but I think some of my dad's brothers did when they visited Canada years ago with their mom & dad (my dad was in the Marines then). My dad is still live at 81 years old, though he is being treated for cancer. As you can guess, Leonard was his uncle. His brothers are still alive also. His youngest surviving that massive Camp Fire in Paradise, CA--what a scare.

I do need permission to access to Nellie Pearl DuVall, Orion's wife's record when you get a chance. It still is not letting me attach my grandmother Rosalie to her record as her mother. I guess once that is done, I need to merge my copy of Rosalie's record to the one you first created as daughter of Orion, so that there are no duplicates (it didn't seem to find that record when I first created it). Still learning this WikiTree.

Thank you kindly,

Brian
