Mary Phyllis Del Monaco was born in Southampton, New York to Saverio Del Monaco and Bambina Berardi Del Monaco. She was the third daughter and the only one born in America. Her mother and two older sisters, Concetta and Rose, emigrated to America in July of 1919 , joining her father Saverio who had arrived earlier in 1914.
Mary attended school in Sag Harbor and at the age of 26 married Charles Louis King. In the post-war calm they raised a family of three sons in Sag Harbor. She was active in her church and in village issues.
Mary and Charles would have four grandchildren and five great grandchildren through 2020. Mary died in late in 2015 at 95 years.
