Biography

Hannah Dawson was born on 19th June 1905 in Lanchester, County Durham ^[1]. She was the daughter of George Dawson and Lizzie Birkett.

1911 census: Living in two rooms at 14 Maple Street, South Moor, Stanley, Durham ^[2]. (Notes: 1. George completed the form, with some information then moved or clarified in red by someone else; Lizzie had given birth to two live-born babies - Joseph Birkett and John Dawson - who had died by this time.)

1921 census: Living in three rooms at 16 Wardle Street, Stanley; George was working as a coal miner (hewer) at William Pit, South Moor Colliery ^[3].

She was a witness to her sister Mary's marriage in March 1929 ^[4], at which point she had not married.

She married at least twice. Her first marriage was to John W Murray in Lanchester, Durham, in Q3 1929 ^[5]. By the 1939 Register, John had died: Hannah is recorded as a widow living (probably with a child) at 4 Ash Street, Gosforth ^[6].

She remarried, to Edward T Hudson, in Q4 1939 in Northumberland South ^[7]. Later life not known.
