René Dodelain and twin sister Anne were born and baptised 28 April 1667. Their parents were Nicolas Daudelin and Anne Giard. René's godparents were René Cloustier and Ursule Gariépy.[1]

He passed away on 11 May 1719 at the age of 52 and was buried in the parish cemetery at Varennes. [4]
