Biography

AnnMaree was born in 1956. She is the daughter of Denis Darke and Dorothy Grace Laycock. AnnMaree is still living. She began her life in Paraparaumu Beach, Kapiti Coast - about 50 km north of Wellington, the youngest of four children.

After completing her first year of high school at Kapiti College (1969), at the age of 13 she went to live in Wellington with her Aunt Bess (her mother's eldest sister) and went to high school at Wellington High School (1970-1973). She attended Victoria University in Wellington between 1974 and 1976, studying for a Law degree but did not complete it at that time.

In 1978 she travelled overseas to South America and Europe, living in London for a year. Following her return to NZ in 1980, she then relocated to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in 1982 where she completed her degree at the University of Queensland (1983) and then completed a Grad. Dip. in Library Science (1986).

She worked as a librarian at the State Library of Queensland from 1987-2017. She now lives in a coastal community on the Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane.

Hello AnnMaree,

I noticed that you created a pre-1700 profile today, Sarah Bowen (abt.1655-), and it has no sources on the profile. Just a reminder that you need to add a reliable source to any pre-1700 profiles you create, at the time you create them. I'm adding a link to a page that has been prepared by the England Project outlining Reliable sources for pre-1700 profiles in England. If you plan to do more research in England, you might also consider joining the Project:England to collaborate with other researchers interested in the same area of research as you. If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to contact me, Kind regards Gillian

Hi AnnMaree,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.
