On August 25, 1899, he was united in marriage with Lottie Dunahoo in Ringgold County. Of this union were born five children – Laura (Mrs. Floyd Laird) of Mystic; Ival L. Daniels of Kingman, Arizona; Pearl (Mrs. Dwight Johnson); and Roy of Mt. Ayr, and Ethel Marie (Mrs. Lyman Baker), who preceded him in death on November 25, 1927. Mr. Daniels and Mrs. Edna Bagley were united in marriage on July 20, 1955, and their home was established in Mount Ayr. "Dave" as he was familiarly known by young and old, served for twenty years, prior to which he was employed by the county and state. At the time of his death, he was a candidate for mayor of Mount Ayr at the election to be held November 5th.

Daniels of Kansas City, Kansas and R. H. Daniels of Twin Falls, Idaho; two sisters Mrs. Sadie Barkhurst of Rawlins, Wyo., and Mrs. Jesse Skinner of Mount Ayr; twelve grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; other relatives and a legion of friends, by whom he will be sadly missed.
