Biography

--Extract from the Colac Herald 10 September 1901[1]--

We regret to have to announce this morning the death of Mr Peter Dallimore, an old and highly esteemed resident of the district (writes the Warrnambool Stan-dard), and father of Major Dallimore, who so distinguished himself in the South African war, and Lieutenant P.J. Dallimore, who was wounded in the disaster to the Victorian Fifth Contingent at Wilmarans-rust. The late Mr Peter Dallimore had been residing lately at Wattle Hill, in the Princetown district, and he succumbed on Sunday to pneumonia, which is so prevalent at the present time, at the age or 59 years. The late Mr Dallimore, who was a Canadian by birth, was a resident of the Warrnambool district for over 30 years, and during the greater portion of that time he was engaged in wool-scouring at Lake Gillear, where he carried on extensive operations. His eldest son, Major Dallimore, left recently on his return journey to South Africa. Great sympathy will be felt for the widow and family of the deceased gentleman in their sad bereavement.
