Richard Daintree was born in Huntingdonshire, England in 1832, the son of Richard Daintree and Elizabeth Dodson.[1]
In 1851, Richard was living with his family, parents and two servants in Hemingford Abbots, Huntingdonshire.[2]

Richard Daintree married Lettice Agnes Foot, daughter of Henry Boorn Foot, in Melbourne in the Colony of Victoria on 01 December 1857.[3]
They had eight children, two sons and six daughters.[1]

Richard Daintree was a Professional Photographer, Artist, Geologist and Explorer. Richard's geological expertise helped with the discovery of gold in the Ravenswood area, and the Gilbert River in 1869....he continued on to map out parts of North Queensland including the Daintree. He also stimulated Assisted Immigration to Queensland.[1]
Richard Daintree passed away in Beckenham, Kent, England, United Kingdom on the 20th of June 1878.[1]
