Newspaper Report on Death

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/3477463?searchTerm=August%20Dahlke Brisbane Courier (Qld. : 1864 - 1933), Monday 29 August 1887, page 6 COUNTRY MAILS. SOUTHERN AND WESTERN DISTRICTS (From Local Papers to 27th, August.) On Saturday evening, the 13th instant, Mr Christian Dahlke, a settler, met with his death in a little creek on his own property at Nerang. During the day Mr. Dahlke made a business visit to a neighbour, sending word by his little son that Mrs. Dahlke need not wait dinner. After tying logs together to save them from the flood waters, Mr. Dahlke went foward to see Mr. Roe, his neighbour. He left there about 8pm,remarking that he hoped that the water was sufficiently high to enable him to float some logs lying on his land. During the last flood Mr. Dahlke's bridge was swept away, and a log replaced the bridge, and it seems it was at this spot that Mr. Dahlke lost his life, and it appears very probable that he slipped and stunned himself, and was drowned. Mr. Dahlke could not swim. A widow, sister of Mr. William Thedieke, of Yellowwood, and seven children are left to mourn their loss, and, unfortunately, they are but poorly provided for. It is satisfactory to learn that an effort is being made by several of Mr. Dahlke's friends to get together a small sum to help on his unfortunate widow and children.

He passed away in 1887. [1] Christian Dahlke met with his death in a little creek on his own property at Nerang. He drowned in flood waters. [2]
