Antonino d’Anna is born 1 September 1872 and baptized the next day in Corleone. He is the son of Francesco d’Anna and Rosa d’Anna. His godparents are Pietro and Girolama Gagliano, brother and sister, both unmarried.[1] Although his mother's surname from birth is also "d'Anna," Antonino's parents are of no known relation.
Father and son emigrate together to New Orleans in 1893 on the Trimveria:
Antonino returns to Corleone to marry Carmela di Miceli, daughter of Biagio di Miceli and Maria Rosa Saporito, on 24 September 1899.[3]
He returns to Louisiana at an unknown date.
In 1902, at least 53 passengers from Corleone sail on the SS Citta’ di Napoli, bound for the port of New Orleans. Among them are two people, traveling separately, who are meeting Antonino in Vinton, Louisiana: Francesco Paolo Birtone, a cousin, and Antonino’s mother-in-law, Gaetana Carmella.
