Here is my family tree.
Jean Marie Diaz was born in Ohio in 1967. She is the daughter of Luis Díaz Miranda and Margaret Tierney. Around 1970, the family moved to Ponce, Puerto Rico, where her younger brother was born. About 1972, the family moved back to Dayton where both children started school.
About 1977, to indulge a lifelong love of horses on the part of Margaret and Jean, the family acquired two Puerto Rican Paso Fino horses and subsequently moved to New Carlisle, Ohio to a ranch house with five acres of land and a barn. Foals followed.
In the summer of 1980, the family moved to Miami, Florida. Jean graduated from high school in 1985 and proceeded to spend two years at MIT (with summer breaks for internships at AT&T Bell Labs) before taking a break from academia, spending a two-year stint in California. She came back to Boston about 1989 where she took up breeding and showing Maine Coon cats before leaving permanently for California in 1992.
In California, she graduated with a BS in Biology from California State University in March 2006. Once she realized she could afford a horse if she gave up flying around the country to cat shows, she promptly acquired a rescue Arabian horse, and then another.
