Biography

Leoluca d'Anna is born 13 October 1859 in his parents home in the S. Leoluca quarter of Corleone. His father, Gaetano D'Anna, age 33, agricoltore (farm manager), reports his birth. His mother is Bernarda Grizzaffi, age 23.

He baptized Leonemlucam the same day. His godparents are Francesco d'Anna and Antonina Campagna, a married couple.

Leoluca D'Anna marries Giuseppa Greco, daughter of the late Salvatore Greco and the living Bernarda Marino, on 17 November 1886 in Corleone. It is the first marriage for them both. Leoluca's parents have both passed away.

In 1887, the family council is petitioned to grant Leoluca's sister, Salvatrice, age fifteen, the right to marry. Leoluca, age 28, is the first to appear on her behalf.

Leoluca has an older brother with the same name. On that brother's baptismal record is a note that Leoluca marries Anna Badami on 7 December 1946 at age 92. Due to the prevalent naming conventions for children, I am confident that the older brother dies in infancy. It is very possible that the younger brother marries her, and the note was placed in his older brother's baptismal record by accident.

In 1890, Leoluca and Giuseppa register their marriage in the civil office in Corleone.
