Otho lost his father in 1929, almost 3 years to the day after his brothers were killed, when Andrew was working at the Jamison No. 8 Mine, the same mine where his brothers were killed, and died instantly when he was struck by a mine truck in the same tunnel where his brother bodies were recovered and was buried in Bee Gum Cemetery in Mannington, Marion County, West Virginia.

Research Notes

Otho's draft registration card lists his contact as his mother, Sarah Givens. This confirms that she remarried.

While Otho's wife is named, the marriage source is not available and unknown if they had children.

The archives in Clarksburg, West Virginia burned to the ground in 1973 destroying over 75% of the records stored there. The records remaining were not digitized until the late 1990s - 2010. Since marriage records are not found for him, it is possible that the records are lost forever due to the fire. The bio contains the dates found in other profiles history, but proof has not been found.

Death records in West Virginia archives are not published until after 50 years from the date of death.
