Otho was born on 22 May 1909 to parents, Andrew Johnson Cutlip and Sarah Jane Cunningham in Farmington, West Virginia according to his Delayed Birth Certificate. [1]
Otho first appears in the census of 1910, as an infant, the 8th of 9 children, living with their parents and his maternal aunt:[2]

The family suffered a terrible tragedy when his brothers, Leo and Archie, were killed in the Jamison No. 8 coal mine explosion on 14 Jan 1926 along with 17 other coal miners.
Just 9 months later, his sister in law, Archie's widow, Ruth died on 22 October 1926 from Typhoid Fever leaving 2 his cousins, ages 4 and 2.
Otho lost his father in 1929, almost 3 years to the day after his brothers were killed, when Andrew was working at the Jamison No. 8 Mine, the same mine where his brothers were killed, and died instantly when he was struck by a mine truck in the same tunnel where his brother bodies were recovered and was buried in Bee Gum Cemetery in Mannington, Marion County, West Virginia.
The 1930 census shows Otho, 20, living with his brother, James, and his family; he is a coal miner:[3]

Leo's widow, Otho 's sister in law, Gertrude Hall Cutlip, died on 9 April 1933 of Pulmonary Tuberculosis.
31 year old year old Otho registered for the World War II draft on 16 Oct 1940. At the time his employer is the Semet-Solvay Company, a coke processing and chemical manufacturing plant.[4]
Otho married Irene Morgan but records have not been found and it is unknown if they had children.
Otho died Jun 1976 at the age of 67. [5] He was interred in Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont, West Virginia. [6]
Otho's draft registration card lists his contact as his mother, Sarah Givens. This confirms that she remarried.
While Otho's wife is named, the marriage source is not available and unknown if they had children.
The archives in Clarksburg, West Virginia burned to the ground in 1973 destroying over 75% of the records stored there. The records remaining were not digitized until the late 1990s - 2010. Since marriage records are not found for him, it is possible that the records are lost forever due to the fire. The bio contains the dates found in other profiles history, but proof has not been found.
Death records in West Virginia archives are not published until after 50 years from the date of death.
