Biography

John Cutler was a part of William Penn's Pennsylvania Settlers community.
John was a Friend (Quaker)

John was the son of Edmund and Isabel Cutler, and was born in 1684 in England. He was baptised 11 May 1684 in Slaidburn, Yorkshire, England[1]

Arrived aboard Rebecca along with his brother's family on October 31, 1685. [2]

He married Margery (Hayhurst) Cutler in the Middletown (later Langhorne) Meetinghouse in a Quaker ceremony on 17 June 1703. [3]

Tradition says, walked three times from Stroudsburg, PA to Fallsington, a distance of sixty miles in twelve hours, to visit Margery Hayhurst. During the third visit they were married. [4]

John and Margery had three children: [4]

  • Elizabeth, born 1704
  • Mary, born 1706, married David Palmer
  • Benjamin, born 1709

John Palmer was a surveyor, and surveyed Bucks Co. in 1732-3.[4]

He wrote a will 11 Aug 1718 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, which was proved 6 Jun 1720. [5]

John died 7 Mar 1720 in Middletown, Bucks County.[5]

He was buried in Middletown. [6]
