Hello Andrew, I'm interested in the Snell records you have added and improved. After reading below, I understand that you need to orphan some profiles. I don't think this line links to mine, but I've added a few bits of info. Best wishes! Jane

I am proposing a merge of the two files. You are correct that there should only be one fie per person. My version has been out there since 2019. When you entered your version, it should have suggested that there was an existing file.Glad to meet you cousin. We are related through the Toney line. You will find that I have already entered the entire volume of Henning & Rummel's "The Toney Family History. Your info is on page 314.

It says permission is denied when I tried to merged.

If am correct, why are you not merging my other family members when my daughter, Breauna, proposed it? Why have you ignored her messages to merge? She has reached out to you multiple times. She private messaged you over this, and you ignored her. She got frustrated, and finally commented on here. And you ignore her again.

I created an account, not just a profile. It didn't show up or suggest anything. Nor did my parents profiles when my daughter created them. They are confirmed with DNA. Nor did the rest of the family profiles she created show up as already been created.

It is nice to meet you as well.

I can't seem to find "The Toney Family History". It would be an interesting read. I would love to see what it says about my family.

Thank you.

You and your daughter were probably trying to contact me while I was locked out of my account by Wikitree. They said that I was managing too many files. They helped me abandon some files, and now are allowing me to manage the remaining files. Sorry about that. Please propose the merge, and I will accept. Same for your daughter. Do you know how to propose a merge? Place the larger number over the smaller number.

Hello, I have sent you messages regarding my grandmother and family’s profiles.

You have made a bunch of them, including my grandmother, a profile, while I already have them a profile.

You also have my mom and aunt (who have accounts on here) a profile.

You have not gotten back to me. So I am posting on here.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Griffith-8065

I wish to merge them, but it will not let me. Says I don’t have permission.

Also my grandmother would hate that you have her name as Myrtle. That may have been her birth name, but she never went by it, and most of her documents were not in that name.

She went by her middle name Ellen.

You also have her death wrong.

Her birthday is Dec. 24, 1944. And she died on Feb. 15, 2019.

Why are you making profiles of people you know almost nothing about?

Are you related to her?

Hello Andrew, I see that you have been making many changes to my family tree. Most seem to be minor changes like adding a township. I cannot see any connection to you at this time. You have made name changes to my grandmother's profile. Her name was Eula Blonda Cottingham Perrine. Now her profile shows the name Blonda three times. Please be more careful when you alter profiles and furnish good references.

I am currently working on the descendants of Andreas (Huber) Hoover, your and my wife's ancestor. I am sorry if I stepped on your toes. The minor changes are just to match up with Wikitree standards as suggested by Wikitree. I hope you have noticed that I have identified many descendants who did not previously exist in Wikitree. I am aware that new additions show up, but am unaware of corrections being counted anywhere. Sorry I felt that I was being helpful to the family.

I've spent the afternoon updating the Hoover line in my Family Tree Maker program and Ancestry. Most of my records are on there and not Wikitree. My records don't show that Andreas Huber Hoover is my ancestor. My 6th cousin 4 times removed (Mary Davis) married his descendant, Eli Hoover. I believe they are the grandparents of President Herbert Hoover. Thank you for making corrections and additions to my tree. I became concerned after reading some other comments that questioned why you were requesting trusted list access. Now I suspect that you are very dedicated to following all lines that are connected to yours. You never know what connections you will make by adding all the people you find. I am sorry if my comments were hurtful to you. Keep up the good work!

Hi

Not sure why you have requested trusted access to Lucy Meads. Was this a mistake? You are 11 degrees from her through a quite convoluted route. As you will be well aware you do not need trusted access to edit open profiles. If you have some new information with sources then please feel free to add this. Unless you come up with a compelling reason for me to add you I will not be doing this.

Hello Andrew, Thank you for your interest in Samuel Hornback and request to be added to the trusted list. You stated he is your wife's 6th grandfather yet I do not see your wife's connecting descendant line included on Wikitree. Has it been included? Since there have been mix ups in the past over different Samuel Hornbacks I would I like to see the connecting generations with proofs and sources before considering your request.

Sincerely Connie Graves

I got your request for adding you to a trusted list, however I am not granting it. This is my mother you are asking to be a trusted source for and I have no idea who you are or how you are related so I don't understand how you can be a trusted, especially after reading other comments here how you appear to have a tendency for a lack of source citations on your profiles. It would be more respectful if you tried establishing a relationship before making a request like this.
Hi Andrew, You asked to join the trusted list of Rector-433, who you noted was your "1st cousin 7x removed." Hannah isn't your direct ancestor and quite some distance from you in relation. I'd recommend instead that if you have suggestions or sources to offer to let me know, make comments on the profile, or feel free to edit the profile, it is open. However, I do note the repeated requests in the comments below to use sources when you made edits, and I will also make that reminder. Any changes need sources cited to back up the changes, especially this profile as honestly, her existence is in question.

Cousin Andrew… thank you for “fixing” my error on Averill Thatcher Aone (Jury) Riggs profile page…I think I was just too tired posting that day. She was my great Aunt and sooo many Jury members to post! I’m sad that I never new her, nor did my mother. My mother was close to her sister, Aunt Lucy though and we corresponded through the years.
Andrew - You asked to be added to the trusted list of Morgan-9286 but your request did not say why. Are you related? It is a project-protected profile that one of the project leaders had worked on intensely. It is an open profile, so you can edit it to some extent without being on the trusted list. Any changes should have a reliable source or sources and, if you wish to make major changes (dates/locations/relationships), please post a comment on the profile as to what changes you intend to make so that they can be reviewed first. Thanks!

edit - I just read through all the comments on his profile and the profile that had been attached as his wife (Duncan-9413) & I've detached the profiles.

Hi Andrew,

Please make sure to use complete source citations...read through https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources_FAQ#When_should_the_Unsourced_Research_Note_Box_be_used.3F

Many, many of your profiles should be marked as unsourced due to the lack of a complete source citation.

Hi Andrew

You asked to be added to the trusted list for Lawrence Lemon. It is an open profile and does not require trusted list approval to edit. Is there another reason for trusted list approval. He is my husband's ancestor. I encourage you to provide better sources .

posted by M Ross
Hello Andrew,

I saw your trusted list requests and was going through and honoring them. There is no reason not to honor such a request on an open profile, since the pointed of a trusted list is about privacy, and open profiles already have no privacy restrictions. However, you asked to be added to the trusted list of *my own personal profile*. Such requests is generaly frowned upon, and I don't think Wikitreers will add anyone to their own account profile except for a close kinsman. More broadly, if a profile does not have open privacy, it's generally a good idea to communicate first with the PM about your interest.

Barry

I hoped to find info on Clement Sult. I found him along withe many of my family members. Not sure where this info came from, but it has many errors and is quite incomplete. The first one is Marian Sult Rahmig. She is listed being born in 1866. She was born in 1922, the youngest of 4 children. My mom was the oldest born August 28, 1916. Her parents were Raymond Lester Sult and Jeanettie "Nettie" Donham, and their birth years are incorrect. Going back on the Thompson line, it appears the info may be correct, but I need dig out my records to be sure. I have lots of info on the Donham, Sult, and Thompson lines and more. Marian was my aunt.

Hi Andrew, I see you have quite a few profiles in your family tree that have "unsourced family tree" as the only source. These profiles are all recent enough to have easily found documented sources and per the Honor Code sources are required on WikiTree profiles. It would be great if you would go through your watchlist and add sources to your family. Thanks! Emma MacBeath
Hi Andrew --

I noticed that you have created several pre-1700 profiles using what appears to be a family history book. Books of this type are not considered reliable enough for creating pre-1700 profiles, unless they cite reliable sources as evidence of where the information was obtained.

If the book does cite reliable sources, the sources it cites should also be included with the citation of the book. Citing an unsourced book does not comply with WT standards for creation of pre-1700 profiles.

I suggest taking a few moments to review this description of sources which are considered "not quite good enough" before adding any more pre-1700 profiles.

Thanks! Joyce Rivette

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for all your work on WikiTree.

There have been some updates to the Pre-1700 Profile help page and the Pre-1700 Quiz since you took it in Aug 2017. Please review both and let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You will notice that the wording has been modified to more fully explain the sourcing needed for pre-1700 profiles.

Most genealogical books are derivative sources and are not to be used as the only citation on pre-1700 profiles. Please don't create any more with only such a book as the source.

Thanks,

Deb

Hi, Andrew. I ran across a bunch of profiles you created while I was doing some name searches for people I was researching. It was frustrating for me to find that the profiles had no location information, so I couldn't tell whether the people lived in North America, England, Wales, or some other place. I understand that you probably were in a hurry and add ancestors, and it may not be possible to precisely locate each person's life events, but approximate information usually can be provided, and these details are an important part of our families' histories. Please add locations to profiles like Rice-13531, Unknown-457825, Rice-13530, Tune-204, Lewis-33962, Cortnell-2, and others you created.
